The Last Post

Well what a busy week its been as the class has celebrated the end of the school year, said their farewells and connected with new classmates. I would like to wish all Room 8 students and their families a Merry Christmas, hope you enjoy the festive season and have a great new year. Many thanks to parents for their support and help throughout the year. I look forward to visiting CLG often next year as part of my continuing Coordinator role now based at Westbourne Park.

Kind Regards

Civics and citizenship and goodbye

As a part of our civics and citizenship learning we have been inquiring into how and why laws are made. As a part of this inquiry students were told about an Island found off the coast of Australia, called the island of  Incolacia. The class formed into groups (political Parties) to develop policies for the island of Incolacia which is annexed by Australia. Today we met in the senate to debate these policies. Some interesting arguments and suggestions were debated and I actually really enjoyed being the speaker of the house. Everyone was really engaged and got into the spirit, demonstrating the expert learner qualities of teamwork, open mindedness, active thinking and communicating. What a great way to end the unit.image image image

Further to to this I would also like to take this opportunity to say goodbye to room 8 parents and students. Tomorrow (Tuesday) will be my last day in the classroom for 2015. I have really enjoyed the opportunity to work with all of the students of room 8 as well as getting to know their parents. Thank you to you all for your hard work and support this year. Have a safe and restful holiday. To those moving to new schools I wish you all the best and for those who will be returning to CLG in 2016 I look forward to seeing you again.

thanks everyone

Concert Reminder

The excitement is building as we put the finishing touches on our ‘Bills’ Concert item with Room 20. A reminder students need to meet at 6:15pm sharp tomorrow evening at the classroom wearing their costumes and carrying their bill (envelope). After the concert our collection point will be outside the Grange building. We look forward to sharing this exciting performance with you.

End of Year Special Lunch

A note went home with students today with a reminder about concert costumes and details of our special lunch order and last week activities. A copy is in the notes section. Although homework grid 11 was our last for this term this doesn’t mean the home learning needs to stop. Most students have a Food choices slideshow that they have been working on at school and could support this a bit next week at home. They are promoting a healthy eating message with their classmates and so far we have learnt about the obesity epidemic and impact of salt on our health, confidently presented by Christopher and Sarah.

Concert Costume

Hello Everyone,

Just a quick post about our End-Of-Year Concert item.
Our class will be performing the song “Bills” by Lunchmoney Lewis; an upbeat, current song with lyrics we can all relate to, especially with the holiday season fast approaching! We are working with Room 20 Mrs Mc Skimming’s students, Mrs Woodlands and Room 20 parent Michelle.

Costuming will be kept simple with students asked to dress as an occupation. Probably very stereotypical will make the occupation easier to identify, such as a nurse in white, a businessman with shirt and tie….Use your imagination and whatever you can find around the place. Please do not buy extra stuff!
The concert is on Thursday of week 8, 3rd December, starting at 6:15 (students meet their teacher.) Please let me know ASAP if your child is not available on the night.

Information about our end of year celebration lunch and last day activities will be sent home soon
